With over 1 billion monthly active users on Instagram, it’s the perfect platform to advertise your business, show off your cute puppy pics, or flaunt your O.O.T.D. We’ve discovered a few awesome tips to improve your Insta game and increase your audience. These tips are so easy, even your mom could try them!
Establish Your Brand Identity
To start with, make sure your account is on public, which is the default privacy setting. If you want to be discovered by new people, it’s easier to find your account if it’s open to the public. Your handle is also important, so it should be easy to search and recognize. Your handle and profile picture are the first things someone sees about your account, so they should both be something that reflects the vibes of your profile! After all, first impressions are important!
Be Consistent
When people view your profile, they should see the vibe you are trying to convey through your pics. This is why it’s important to be consistent with a theme or color scheme. Try a popular preset from Etsy! This also keeps your followers visually engaged in what you post! Once you select a theme that is unique to you, stick to it so your page can represent you perfectly.
Change Perspectives
Use the grid layout to your advantage when posting pics or vids! Plan out your posts to add some variety to your feed while incorporating the grids. For example, post a portrait followed by a close up or full body. You can even change the perspective of the model, such as taking a pic facing the camera and then a side view. Mix up your photos by adding in shots of food, a work desk, or an animal (you can never go wrong with a cute animal).
Get Involved
This one might seem obvious, but posting regularly will help you stay relevant and keep your followers’ attention. By updating your page at least once a week, you can maintain your online presence without being too overwhelming. Be sure to post on your story, too! Add hashtags under your pics to be discovered in Search and follow topics that are relevant to your theme. Also, reply to comments and DMs to keep in touch with followers and friends!
Write Unique Captions
Captions can easily be overlooked, but they are super important, as the caption completes the post! Write something that accurately reflects your style and helps tell the story you are trying to describe through your pic. Don’t be afraid to branch out by quoting a piece of your favorite literature, keeping it short and sweet, or even using a funny phrase. Whatever you use, write something that reflects your true thoughts and is relevant to your theme.
