Maybe you still need a bit more convincing that a brand photoshoot is a smart move, I got you! There are three main reasons why I believe that everyone needs to invest in a professional photographer and take part in a stunning brand photoshoot. I book one photoshoot a month for all these reasons and so that I never run out of fresh content for my audience.
One of the biggest pros to brand photos is that you increase your credibility. While professionalism in the online space isn’t all about pantsuits and formal emails, maintaining a degree of professionalism shows people that you care and are fully invested in helping them. Instead of grainy images that push people away from your brand, professional photography can draw people in and welcome them to your content.
Additionally, brand photography doesn’t just have to be pictures of you! You can also get branded stock photos so that you don’t have to keep using the same ones we’ve all seen hundreds of times in blog posts, Pinterest pins, and Instagram posts. If you’re a product-based business, outsourcing product photos can help people to visualize your product in their hands and home, which is one step closer to them actually purchasing from you!
As a brand designer, I’m all about using every aspect of your brand to turn heads. While some people think branding is just a logo, it’s really a lot more than that. Even your brand photography can be considered part of your branding! When you choose the right photographer, you’re able to create a cohesive look across your imagery, color palette, fonts, logos, and additional elements of your brand. So instead of people actually having to see your brand name, they know whose content they’re looking at without having to move their eyes elsewhere!
Increased brand awareness means you’re constantly getting inside the minds of your ideal client and making it harder to forget your brand! When they keep thinking about you, chances are that they’ll end up booking with you or purchasing from you.
We’ve touched on this a bit, but one of the main contributors to both a professional online presence and one that increases brand awareness is consistency. Don’t just choose the first photographer you find in your area, check out their portfolio to make sure their editing style aligns with the rest of your brand’s visual content. Also, don’t use a photo filter over the edits your photographer has but all their hard work into perfecting! This will ensure that you continue to maintain consistency.
You can also use the same photos on your Instagram or other social networks that you use on your website. This will help create a seamless transition when people click on the link in your bio and reassure them that they’re in the right place.
Now that you know the importance of brand photography, it’s time to talk about where you can use your brand photos. If you haven’t yet booked your brand photoshoot, go do that now before returning to the rest of this blog post! As a new business owner, you may not have the budget for a full brand photoshoot with a skilled photographer, instead, think about investing in just some professional headshot from a mini-session with a photographer or getting a friend to lend a helping hand so you don’t have to just use selfies!

It’s finally time for the good stuff! We’re going to highlight three locations that we’ve briefly mentioned already and talk about, not just why you should use your images in these places, but how to do so as well.
If you’re an online-based business owner that’s looking to elevate their client process to create a seamless and high-end experience, then a welcome guide with on-brand photography will be a great addition! As people move from social media, to your website, then into your onboarding workflow, they’ll consistently be greeted with the same type of imagery. This sense of familiarity will help them to feel comfortable and at ease as you start working together.
A welcome guide is a short PDF presentation that sets the tone for working together. It can answer FAQs, include your business hours, outline your boundaries, and the process your client will experience as they work with you. You can also include testimonials as a final reassurance that trusting your business with their project is a great idea! You can pick up a client welcome guide or packet for an affordable price from Creative Market or a similar site.
Your website is where things start to get serious – make a great first impression with custom imagery, either custom stock photos or photos of you to make people feel at home! Greet website visitors with an image of you so they know they’re in the right place. Use your brand photos on your website helps people keep in mind that they’re investing in a person and will be working with someone just like them instead of a large company that doesn’t truly care about its customers.
Pro Tip: Video content is all the rage nowadays! Think about investing in this type of content to help draw people into your website and stay on the page for longer as they watch the video.
Instagram
Showing your face on Instagram is one of the best things you can do to grow your account and turn potential clients into paying customers. It’s called social media for a reason! Show your face and put your brand out there to increase visibility and maintain a beautiful feed that’s completely on-brand. You can schedule content ahead of time to share valuable information with your audience with your brand photos, and feel free to mix it up with graphics! Trust me, having brand photos to pull from makes feed planning and batch-creating content so much easier.
Did you know? Images with a face in them perform about 40% better than other visual content! So if you’ve been putting off investing in a brand photoshoot, this is your sign to finally get on it!
