Knowing my brand voice has helped me be clear in how I communicate online. When I established my voice I was mostly just using Instagram, but now I have an email list and blog and Pinterest and the same voice still applies. Pretty much anywhere you see me, you’ll know it’s me by how I speak. So you’re probably thinking; ‘that’s great, but what is it?’. Essentially brand voice is your brands personality and how it comes across when read, seen, or interacted with.
Brand Identity is incredibly important (of course I think that, I’m a Brand and Website Designer who also specializes in Social Media!), but having a clear idea of your voice is so important as well. If you pair a great looking brand with a consistent/catchy brand voice then you’ve truly got some magic going on. Establishing this is so helpful in maintaining a consistent online presence. Of course, pictures are great, but a lot of platforms aren’t really about the photos anymore, it’s about what you have to say. Your voice is what really sets you apart in this saturated world. Like Clubhouse! I speak the same way there that I do on m Instagram Stories.
Personally, I talk about business, girly things, life, family, travel, growth. Online I stay away from polarizing topics like politics, holidays, and faith. To me, that is a private thing that only my closest friends get the opportunity to know about me. I like to keep things light, happy, and fun. I am your girlie bff who will always tell you to buy the shoes. Then once we get to know each other better, I’m the friend who is there for you no matter what. I want that to ring true in every single piece of content that goes out.
Brand voice is about how you want people to feel.
Anything I write or post about, I want people to walk away feeling encouraged, inspired, and known. I want them to keep coming back for more. When I established my brand voice, it made it so much easier to write content I felt confident in and that people kept coming back for more.
